Six suspects involved in the Kwabenya jailbreak that led to the death of one cop, have been acquitted and discharged by an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Justice Aboagye Tandoh.
They were released after the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against them.
They are: George Yeboah, Edward Lartey, George Sarbah, Elvis Owusu, George Asante, and Theophilus Banda.
Their friends and family members went into instant jubilation following their acquittal.
However, four others: Prince Osei, Nancy Dentaa, Prince Kofi Acheampong and Kofi Seshie have been ordered to open their defence when on 23 May when the court resumes sitting.
It will be recalled that seven suspected criminals broke cell at the Kwabenya police station on Sunday, 21 January 2018. They were assisted by a group of armed robbers to escape from police custody. They killed the police officer on duty, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi.
