Asante Kotoko has officially denied reports that the team’s midfielder, Kwame Boahene, is suffering from a stroke.
Several media reports emerged after match week 4 of the Ghana Premier League that the player picked up an injury and complained of symptoms similar to a dead leg.
The injury to Boahene was confirmed by Kotoko head coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin, in his post match press conference following the 1-0 win over Techiman Eleven Wonders.
Citi Sports spoke to the team’s Communications Director, Obed Acheampong, and he gave some clarity on the matter.
“We have seen that particular story and we must say that we were surprised and disappointed. Per the information from the doctor, Boahene is not suffering from a stroke. He picked up the injury ahead of the match day 2 game against Inter Allies, and it turned out to be one to the ankle and he was being treated by the medical team. Fortunately, he has fully recovered from the injury and he has been training. He was with the rest of the team on Wednesday and he will train on Thursday as we prepare to face AshGold this weekend in Obuasi.”
Boahene’s availability for the clash against the league leaders will be determined by the head coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin.
Kotoko are 4th on the Ghana Premier League table with 7 points after securing two wins, a draw and a loss in their four league matches played so far.
