RESIDENTS OF Kwanwoma, in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, has attributed the rise in criminal activities in the area to lack of police station in the community.
They have consequently appealed to the authorities concerned to, as a matter of urgency, construct a decent police station that befits the status of Kwanwoma to boost security.
According to them, they are of the strong conviction that criminal activities in the area, which is on the rise now, would be reduced to the barest minimum with the opening of a police station.
This request was made by the Concerned Youth of Kwanwoma during a press conference, which was meant to seek proper solution to the myriad of problems facing their community on Friday.
Messrs Boateng Bismark and David Kusi, who were the organizers of the programme, in their separate remarks, said their community has not been experiencing transformation lately.
They lamented that access to potable drinking water, which is very key for the survival of mankind, is not easy to find in Kwanwoma and the nearby areas, with its accompanying challenges.
Messrs Boateng and Kusi also bemoaned that residents of the community sometimes have to walk for several miles in order to fetch water for their daily chores, which is a challenge.
According to the two speakers, the Kwanwoma community also has issues regarding availability of lands for future projects that would help benefit the community and its people.
For instance, they alleged that a land in the community that has been earmarked for funeral programmes, and another one meant for the construction of a market, have been sold.
Messrs Boateng and Kusi, in conclusion, appealed to the authorities concerned to immediately institute measures to help protect their public lands and also build a police station for the area.
