Kwesi Appiah Not Guilty for WC Failure – GFA Boss
THE PRESIDENT of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, insists Ghana Coach, Akwasi Appiah, cannot be blamed for the nation’s inability to qualify for the Mundial.
According to him, the Ghanaian trainer inherited a Black Stars, which did not start the qualification bid to Russia 2018 on a blistering note.
In this regard, he expressed the opinion that it would be wrong for anybody to lay the blame of Ghana’s inability to qualify for the Mundial on Akwasi Appiah’s doorstep.
“Don’t blame Coach Akwasi Appiah for the Black Stars’ inability to book a place in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, taking place in Russia, this year.
“He assumed the role of Ghana coach when the qualifiers had started, and we all know that we did not have a good start to the campaign”, he said.
The GFA President also stressed the need for football fans in the country to give maximum support to the Black Stars.
According to him, the Stars are targeting to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Tournament and that the coach would need the total support of Ghanaians.
Kwesi Nyantakyi indicated that Ghana stands the chance to win the Africa Cup of Nations Tournament if the country decides to train properly.
