Kwesi Appiah Pleased With Players Performance in Kampala
Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah was very satisfied with the output of the team despite not getting the victory in Kampala.
Ghana needed to win to have a chance at qualifying for the World Cup but the goal scored by Raphael Dwamena in the 94th minute was ruled out for offside.
Despite the displeasure at the decision, Kwesi Appiah stated that the match offered the players especially the new ones the opportunity to exhibit their capabilities ahead of future assignments.
“This was a big test for me and for the players. They had to prove that they were ready to step up and play if the so-called big players were not available.”
Sweden-based Kinglsey Sarfo played a part in the match while Nicholas Opoku, Ebenezer Ofori and Raphael Dwamena all added to their caps for the national team.
On Tuesday, Ghana will play against Saudi Arabia in an international friendly and the expectation is that more players will get the opportunity to feature for the Black Stars.
20 players made the trip for the friendly after Frank Acheampong flew back to China.
