Kwesi Nyantakyi Will Surely Contest Again – Randy
Former vice president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Randy Abbey has expressed his belief that Kwesi Nyantakyi will contest for the 2019 Ghana FA presidential election.
Nyantakyi, who doubles as the CAF 1st vice president, reiterated on several platforms last year that he will vacate the nation’s football governing body head position when his tenure expires in 2019 after assuming office since 2005.
Several leading members of the Ghana football have called on the Wa All Stars bankroller to rescind that decision and contest for the hot position.
Those calls have been met with fierce opprobrium from a section of the Ghanaian populace who believe he has done his best for the development of football in the country hence it’s time to bow out and let someone else continue with his good work.
However, the turn of events in the last couple of days suggest that Mr. Nyantakyi has had a change of mind and is ready to run for the position again next year.
And during an interview with Asempa FM, Randy Abbey stated categorically that Mr. Nyantakyi still has his eyes firmly on contesting for the seat again in 2019.
“All the events that happened showed us one thing, it points to one situation that the man will make a U-turn,” Abbey indicated on Asempa FM.
“Do you think Ahmad will come to this country with his relationship with his 1st vice and everything, the person who invited him here and made sure about his doctorate and everything, and would not have had any discussion with him and would say that he’s urging Ghanaians to vote for Kwesi? He asked.
“In fact, in one of his speech he spoke as if was speaking for Ghanaians, insisting that we should…I think he conducted the quickest nationwide serving in the history of mankind and said that we want the president back. I believe Ahmad will not make that statement in vacuum.”
“When you see all those people on the executive committee and other people speaking, some of those people who belong to the king maker club, who spoke earlier and even described those calling for the man to come back as people…since the shenanigans about the U-turn came on, have heard about them again?
