The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has started that Joseph Henry Mensah, a Ghanaian politician and economist who sudden death occurred last Thursday at the 37 Military Hospital where he had been on admission for sometime now, suffering from stroke was a true statesman who deserve to be celebrated.
Speaking on ‘NEWSFILE’ on JOY NEWS, the MP re countered days of J.H Mensah on the floor of Ghana’s parliament house.
” Is unfortunate death has taking him away, he was a true statesman.I will want J H Mensah to be remembered of what he stood for in terms of relationship and political engagement. Building healthy encounter between members of parliament. ” – he said.
According to him, the presence of late J.H Mensah in parliament house taught members a lot. Explaining further, he entreat the legacy of the veteran politician to be adhere more going forward.
Mr J.H. Mensah served in various ministerial positions under different governments as a leading economist.
A seasoned politician in Ghana, his political career dated back to the 1960s when he was in charge of planning in Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s government.
For a very long time – from Prof Kofi Abrefa Busia’s regime to January 6, 2009, Mr Mensah was the representative of the people of Sunyani in Parliament.
