The late veteran Ghanaian highlife musician, Jewel Ackah, who died on April 27 at his residence located at the Community 11 in Tema, will be buried today, August 4 in Axim in the Western Region, according to the family.
The family of the late musician announced the burial date at the one-week remembrance of the late highlife musician held at the Sakasaka Park in Tema, near the Community Two Police Station.
He will be laid to rest at Axim in the Western Region. Jewel, who is known for composing the National Democratic Congress’ anthem, will be laid in state at the Tema Community 11 Complex Park today followed by interment at his hometown in the Western Region.
Jewel died at the age of 73—and left behind 11 children. Jewel Ackah, is remembered for songs like ‘Joyce San Bra’, ‘Abena’, ‘Dear, ‘Kyer3 Mase’, ‘Manye Yie’ , ‘Asomdwe Hehe’, ‘Bodambo Bodambo’.
He was affectionately called the Prince of Highlife.
A.B. Crentsil, Smart Nkansah, Pat Thomas, Joyce Blessing, Gifty Osei, Ackablay, Gyedu Blay-Ambolley, among others, are expected to grace the ceremony with performance.
