Popular Kumawood actor and musician, Kwadwo Nkansah (aka Lilwin) has disclosed that he is disappointed at the management of Ghana Textiles Printing Limited (GTP), for manufacturing and unveiling of cloths in memory of the late Ebony.
According to Lilwin, it is hypocritical on the part of some top Ghanaian companies to reject proposal from celebrities and yet honor them after they are dead and gone.
It could be recalled that GTP signed an agreement with the family of the late dancehall artiste, born Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng, and produced cloths in her memory. One of the customized cloths with a black and red design, which was officially used for the funeral of the dancehall diva was named with the title of Ebony’s song ‘Maame Hwe’.
Management of the top Ghanaian textile company assured that, ‘Aseda’, the title of Ebony’s gospel song, will also be used to design another cloth for occasions like naming ceremonies. However, speaking on the issue on Bryte FM in Koforidua, the Kumawood star who was visibly appalled by the move registered his disappointment at GTP management.
“I’m very much disappointed at GTP for unveiling cloths for Ebony after she is dead. They did not support her or manufacture a cloth for her when she was alive…GTP could have supported Ebony’s brand the time she was alive.
Ghanaians would only use celebrities to sell their products when we are dead,” Kwadwo Nkansah fired. The local actor argued that there are a number of Ghanaian music stars who are projecting the GTP brand in their daily activities but the company has turned a blind eye waiting for their dead.
“Look at M.anifest, he is always in African print but they will not use him until he is gone before they realize that he was into African prints,” Razzonline.com reported.
