AFC Bournemouth are reportedly open to offers for Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo, as top European clubs, including Liverpool, show growing interest.
Semenyo has been in excellent form this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in 12 matches. His impressive performances have caught the eye of several clubs, with Liverpool being linked to the 24-year-old as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Although Arsenal and Newcastle United have also shown interest, Liverpool are considered the fronunners for Semenyo’s signature. According to Football Insider’s senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke, Bournemouth are unlikely to block Semenyo’s departure if he decides to leave in the summer.
However, the report indicates that a move in January is unlikely. Bournemouth are not eager to sell in the middle of the season, and Liverpool are currently focusing on strengthening other positions.
Semenyo has been a standout player for Bournemouth under manager Andoni Iraola, earning the club’s Goal of the Month and Player of the Month awards.
After missing Bournemouth’s 3-2 loss to Brentford, Semenyo is expected to return when they face Tottenham Hotspur at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday. He also missed Ghana’s last two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Semenyo later told Sky Sports that he used the break to relax and recharge ahead of the busy Christmas schedule. He will be hoping to continue his fine form when he return.
“Just relaxed the body really. I went away to Iberia to take the time out to relax, rest the body from all the tough games, from all the running around and just get some downtime for myself. Body feels fresh and ready to go again”, he said
