“We entreat the Regional Commander of the MTTD to position some men on that highway to check over speeding. At least that will be a temporary measure we can adopt now.

“So, with immediate effect, I am instructing the MTTD to do so because we don’t have to wait for more lives to be lost due to over speeding. This is what we are doing to check the drivers”, he noted.

Last Friday, there was some chaos on the Adenta-Oyarifa road when angry residents of Adenta Barrier staged a demonstration to demand the construction of footbridges on the road.

Soldiers were deployed to the area to ensure calmness but the angry residents re-mobilized, burning tyres, gallons on the road.

According to them, such deaths have become a common occurrence due to the absence of footbridges.
