The Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina Constituency and Minister for Inner-City and Zongo Development, Alhaji Abu-bakar Saddique Boniface has promised a scholarship package to two pupils in the La-Nkwantang Municipal Assembly who will emerge best students in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) scheduled to end today.
This was disclosed yesterday when the MP he toured some selected BECE examination centres in the municipality.
At each of the schools he visited, Hon. Boniface urged the candidates to aim high, saying passing the BECE is a stepping stone towards excellence in life.
‘Forgo all friendship and other social programmes for the week and focus on passing your examinations. Madina has the potential to produce Presidents and ministers so this is the time for you to learn and pass your basic education to make you achieve this dream”, he told the pupils.
He explained that as minister, it was his responsibility to see to it that young people would be encouraged to learn and take over the leadership of the country in future and indicated his preparedness to do more for hard-working students in the municipality in the subsequent years.
“Madina is endowed with brilliant students and I will also help you achieve your dreams”, he told the students who were to take their Information Communications and Technology (ICT) and French papers.
In a related development the MP joined the Municipal Coordinating Director for National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Forster Arthur, to present relief items to residents of a slum community in the Sakora Electoral area that was gutted by fire a couple of days ago.
The items included ten bags of rice, thirty mattresses, three bails of used-clothes, three cartons of ‘Obolo’ soap, three cartons of mosquito repellents, ten buckets, some cups, among others.
