Mahama Bodyguard Slapped Me – Namoale

FORMER NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dade Kotopong constituency, Nii Amasah Namoale, has revealed how he was manhandled by bodyguards of ex-President John Dramani Mahama in the full glare of the public.

The former lawmaker disclosed that he was slapped in the face by a bodyguard of Mr. Mahama, adding that the unforgettable incident happened in his (Namoale’s) constituency, prior to the 2016 polls.

“I was slapped by a soldier, who was part of former President Mahama’s bodyguards, when the ex-president visited my constituency during the 2016 electioneering campaign period”, he claimed.

Speaking recently on Angel TV, Namoale lamented that his ‘crime’ for suffering that unfortunate fate at the hands of the soldier was that he tried to get ‘too close’ to the president.

He recounted how Mahama was virtually treated like a ‘tin god’, which made it almost impossible for party gurus like himself to go near him, saying “I tried to see him several times but I was prevented”.

Namoale, who is very outspoken, laid the blame of NDCs embarrassing electoral defeat in 2016 right at the doorstep of Mahama, claiming the ex-president sidelined key party people.

According to him, Mr. Mahama was surrounded by a few people, whose inactions created a wide gap between the presidency and the party, stressing that the former president hardly met and talked with his appointees.

Namoale, who is rooting for Joshua Larbi to become the party’s flagbearer for 2020, warned NDC members that it would be extremely difficult for the party to market Mr. Mahama for votes, and consequently pleaded with them reject him outright in the next presidential primaries.
