MAHAMA GRABS 95% IN ASHANTI
FORMER PRESIDENT John Dramani Mahama emerged victorious in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential primaries in the Ashanti region.
He accumulated a staggering 32,664 votes, representing 95.08%, to beat his other competitors for the NDC presidential position in the Ashanti region.
His amazing victory clearly shows that Mr. Mahama, who led the NDC to a defeat during the 2016 presidential elections, is still a force to reckon with.
Significantly, Mr. Mahama easily won all the 47 constituencies in the region to enhance his chances of becoming the NDC flagbearer for 2020.
Prof. Joshua Alabi, settled for the second position with 554 votes, representing 1.62%, followed by Alban Bagbin, who grabbed 346 votes, representing 1.01%.
Voting in the Ashanti started across the 47 constituencies at exactly 7 am and the patronage was impressive as several as NDC delegates came out to vote.
There were no reported cases of troubles and disturbances as the party delegates comported themselves to make the event peaceful and successful.
In the end, Mr. Mahama, who was the bookmakers favourite, floored his six other opppnents to lead the NDC to the 2020 presidential polls, once again.
