Mahama Trial: 7-Member Jury Selected
The Accra High Court has empaneled a seven-member jury to determine the case involving some 14 persons standing trial for the murder of Major Maxwell Mahama.
The jury, comprising six males and one female, was empaneled on Wednesday, 25 April, after several failed attempts on previous adjourned dates.
The seventh person to complete the jury was selected after the defence counsel raised objections to two others.
The late soldier was lynched by a group of people in the Central Region where he was on official duty to combat illegal small-scale mining, popularly known as galamsey.
The angry mob mistook Major Mahama for an armed robber after a snail seller spotted a pistol on him when he was reaching for his pocket to pay for snails he had bought from her while jogging on Monday, 29 May 2017.
