Mahama’s first ministerial appointment to be vetted on January 13

The Appointments Committee of Parliament will begin vetting Ministers-designate on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 9:00 am.

This follows the appointments of three key ministers, as outlined in a statement issued by the Committee on January 10, 2025.

The Committee will consider the nominations of the following Ministers of State:

Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson – Minister-designate for the Ministry of Finance
John Abdulai Jinapor – Minister-designate for the Ministry of Energy
Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine – Minister-designate for the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General

In other news, President John Dramani Mahama has assured the public that his full cabinet will be unveiled within the next 14 days.

Speaking at a special National Muslim prayer and thanksgiving service at the National Mosque in Kanda, Accra, on January 10, Mahama urged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to avoid actions that could potentially implicate the government.

“Government is being formed, ministers will be put in place, other officials will be appointed. And as I said, we will have our full cabinet in 14 days.

“And so we will have ministers in charge if you have any issues you consult any of the ministers and have it resolved. So, exercise restraint. Many [people have said it is the same thing the NPP said when they came into 2017.”

He added, “And that is why Ghanaians have voted them out. We must not copy the mistakes that they made. I plead with our supporters, let us do things in an orderly manner.”
