Mahama’s Strategy For 2020 Exposed

The constant obstructionist posturing, all the self-serving critiques clothed as policy alternatives, and some of the unguarded utterances from the “onaapo” marque of the main opposition NDC, is banking on the hopes that majority of Ghanaians, “as forgetful as they are” would be too glad to give the “dead goat” another chance come 2020.

From all indications, the Onaapo preacher who seems to be now confused with issues that led to his abysmal performance during the 2016 general elections is yet again counting on the high hopes that by the general election time in 2020, many Ghanaians will be too forgetful as to remember ex-President Mahama’s unashamed misrule and incompetent time in the political saddles that these credulous citizens will vote him and the NDC back to power in year 2020.

Hate to break the news to them, especially the one with the dead goat syndrome that this wild-goose-chase thinking will not wash as the 21 century Ghanaian is more informed and abreast of issues and can now make good decisions with regard to who they feel is best fit to deliver on the mandate of giving prosperity and peace to the people.

To ensure that Ghanaians are white washed to believe in the lies and shrewd nature of ex-president Mahama, some wishful thinkers of the NDC have been pushed to go from place to place in Ghana supposedly trying to heal their fractured party after suffering the worst humiliation after their bad electoral bruises. Mr. John Mahama’s creeping intentions and game plans toward the NDC’s presidential candidacy against the backdrop of his “second coming” effort in 2020 general elections has in recent times pushed him to create an atmosphere which seems to suggest that he has got answers to the country’s perennial problems.

Need Mr. Mahama be reminded that of how synonymous the name, John Mahama had become with corruption? Need Mr. Mahama and the NDC be reminded that he (JDM) superintended over the worst corrupt regime in the history of this country, where on daily basis, Ghanaians were greeted with one form of corruption scandal or another? Ghanaians cannot easily forget the scandals of GYEEDA, the SADA, the SUBA, the Amajaros, Smarttys Branding saga, 2014 Brazil World Cup fiasco, Woyome illegal money, Isofotons, Waterville, Fortive, and Kanazoe [where Mahama accepted a “bride” of a Ford Expedition from a Burkinabe contractor?

Discerning Ghanaians will obviously not forget the uncountable corruption scandals of the erstwhile NDC administration, most of which he (JDM) personally supervised during his tenure for which reason the NDC suffered an unprecedented electoral humiliation at the 2016 polls. The latest plot of the NDC and the power hungry Mr. Mahama to discredit the credible reputation of Nana Addo and his appointees is the insistence that EOCO/UNDP joint collaborated audit of some public institutions which is less than USD100, 000 is an act of corruption. The NDC’s general mosquito in a desperate attempt to bury the outcome of the audit report which has uncovered massive financial misappropriation during the NDC’s tenure is alleging that government spent USD6.8M on the audit.

But for the EOCO/UNPD joint audit, Ghanaians would not have known that the that state institutions breached provisions of the Public Procurement Act by inflating contract sums, engaged in non-performance of contracts and non-enforcement and breach of contracts, notable among them is the finding that the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST) misappropriated funds to the tune of GH¢285,561,245 and Kingsley Awuah-Darko, former MD of BOST under the NDC regime, misappropriated GH¢10,498,456 and $33,305,527.

The “onaapo” praise singers as part of their exposed plans for 2020 are seen inciting young Ghanaians against the government especially the free SHS policy that was promised by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The NDC is using every diabolic means possible to turn innocent children who but for Nana Addo’s Free SHS would have been languishing at home without hopes of ever enjoying senior high school education due to poverty against government. This is clearly seen in the recent viral video of Deputy National Organizer of the NDC, Joshua Akamba, inciting students of Tempane Senior High School in the Upper East region against the free SHS policy.

The video exposes the lies of the NDC and their desperate attempt to win power at all cost by pointing out to some long existing challenges of the school, and attributing those challenges to the NPP government. Typical among those lies Joshua Akamba blaming the recurring incidents of bed bugs on the NPP. The clear show of desperation and thirst for power is displayed in the video in which Akamba is seen inciting young innocent 13, 14 ,15 year old children who have no idea of the ills of the NDC behind their fake smiles to direct their votes towards ousting the government during the next elections. How on earth can a person do this to the future leaders of a nation if not hungry for power and dominance?

It is not visibly clear what else ex-president Mahama is seeking to accomplish, having run the country beached for over 5 years in power. What is crystal clear, however, is that Mr. Mahama’s history of mismanagement is well-known to many discerning Ghanaians. It is worth noting that the Mahama-controlled NDC had all the time and resources under the universe to device and turn the sinking fortunes of the nation around for good but failed or deliberately refused to do so and since they couldn’t efficiently manage the country, the NDC and for that matter ex-president Mahama are not willing to allow or cooperate with anyone else to build the country. It is in this context that one has to take notice of the ‘Onaapo’ high priests’ unyielding obstructionist strategy toward the relatively infant government of Nana Akufo-Addo.
