Ghanaian actor Majid Michel has hinted at a possible move into politics. Speaking on Joy Prime on December 18, 2024, he explained that worsening societal issues could push him to run for the presidency.
“I haven’t decided yet because I’m not angry enough.
“Whatever makes you angry is your responsibility to fix. If you step outside and see choked gutters and littered pure water sachets, and it angers you, then it’s your duty to address it. Right now, things aren’t too bad, but if they get worse and make me very angry, I’ll know it’s my responsibility to act,” he said.
Majid also shared his thoughts on improving Ghana’s movie industry. He highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration with Nigeria to foster growth and elevate the industry.
The actor’s remarks have sparked conversations about the role of artists in addressing national issues and their potential to drive societal change.
“We did an experimental movie called Divine Love that featured both Ghanaians and Nigerians, and it worked really well, and we became strong. Initially, it used to be Nigerians who needed our help when it came to movies, and after they got it, they built their industry far better than us, and they don’t need our help anymore. Usually, it is ego play. Put ego aside and keep friendship.
How God created the world is interdependent. You are not an island, and you need help… So, regardless of how powerful you think you are, you can never work unless in a team”. He stated.
Majid Michel is a Ghanaian actor, model, television personality, evangelist and a humanitarian. He received nominations for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2017.
