Majority of Ghanaians who believed, campaigned and voted for President Akufo-Addo to be in office in the 2016 general elections, same as the 2020 elections have expressed dissatisfaction over his ways and means in the fight against corruption.
A survey conducted by the Center for Democratic Development (CDD) revealed 62% of 2,400 Ghanaians interviewed between May 23 and June 3, 2021, say they do not have confidence in the ability of President Akufo-Addo “to protect the country’s financial resources and curb corruption in the next four years.”
According to them, the President Akufo-Addo’s government has abandon several vital issues affecting the society, that is, unemployment infrastructure, roads, education, management of the economy, health and the fight against corruption.
“While Ghanaians are split (48% vs. 48%) on the government’s ability to ensure that rule of law is upheld in the next four years, majority [of them] are not confident in its ability to protect the country’s financial resources (53%) and curb corruption and official impunity (62%)” part of survey reads.
