THE MAJORITY Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, is saddened by the possible exit from parliament of some experienced Members of Parliament (MPs) in 2021.
He said parliamentary work required experience and knowledge, and that the exit of experienced MPs would surely affect work in the House.
Some experienced, knowledgeable and popular MPs in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including Alban Bagbin, have expressed their intentions not to contest again in their constituencies. Other NDC stalwarts, who could also be missing are Fiifi Quartey and Inusah Fuseini.
Commenting on the development, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, who is also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker for Suame constituency, lamented that the mass exit of these experienced MPs was not the best.
According to him, work in parliament is not as easy as people outside the House might think, stressing that the absence of these caliber of MPs would definitely have a toll on parliamentary duties.
“I am sad about the possible exit from parliament of Alban Bagbin, Fiifi Quartey, Inusah Fuseini and the rest in the NDC”, he openly bemoaned in an interview with Nhyira FM in Kumasi.
The Majority Leader concluded: “Parliamentary work requires experience, which is gained through long service and stay in the House; and so the absence of these MPs would affect our work”.
