Man, 21, Nabbed for Killing Pastor with Criminal Records
Twenty-one year-old Eric Wonder Fiator was on Tuesday put before the Ada Magistrate Court for his alleged involvement in the murder of Pastor Prosper Sappor, whose lifeless, bullet-riddled body was found in in a bush between Sege and Koluedor on the 23rd June, 2018.
Fiator, a friend to the deceased, was arrested in his hideout at Tema New Town, after a tortuous search, the police said.
At the time of the incident, Prosper’s family claim he was a pastor, but the Ada police insisted he had a very grave criminal record.
Police sources say Fiator, in his caution statement, mentioned one Christopher Leiku, who is currently serving a 2-year jail term at the Akuse prisons, and one Armah, who is currently at large, as his accomplices.
According to the Ada police, on the day of the incident, the three friends, armed with a pump action gun, travelled to Ada on a robbery mission, during which they robbed worshipers at an all-night church service at Kasseh in the Ada-East District and killed one person.
When taken to the court, suspect reportedly disclosed that after the robbery, the trio went to wash their motor bike at a Armah’s house at Tajer, after which they set off for Tema. He said while the deceased, Prosper Sappor, was on the motor bike with Christopher Leiku, he (Eric) and Armah took lead on a commercial vehicle to wait for their friends at Sege.
All this while, Eric, who was in a constant conversation with the deceased’s girlfriend, knew Prosper had died but lied to his girlfriend that he had been arrested at Sege.
He immediately went into hiding at Tema New Town but was arrested days after by the Tema Regional Police Command upon a tip off.
Fiator was on Tuesday arranged before the Ada Magistrate court, where His Lordship Isaac Adjei, remanded him into police custody to reappear today, Friday 12th October.
