A 24-year-old apprentice has been sentenced to a prison term of 10-years with hard labour, for possessing 50 wraps of Indian Hemp.
Emmanuel Adjei, an electrical welder apprentice, was found guilty by the Bekwai Court, for possessing cannabis without authority.
Emmanuel was arrested by Feyiase police on June 24, 2019, at a popular pub at Aputuogya in a patrol at drug peddling joints in the area.
Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ofori, told the Court presided over Frederick Nawurah, the accused claimed ownership of 55 wraps of the dried leaves concealed in a black polythene bag.
After a thorough investigation at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Accra, the leaves proved positive for Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabinol and cannabinol, all active ingredients in cannabis and weighed 13.76 grams.
Accused was sentenced to 10-years imprisonment for illegally possessing marijuana contrary to Section 2 [1] of PNDC Law 236/90.
