THE ASHANTI Regional Police Command is on the heels of a suspect, who violently attacked a 32-year old man at Nkawie Panin in the Ashanti Region.
The suspect, who the police identified only as Boakye, was said to have accused the victim, one Ali Dawuda, of stealing his bunch of plantain.
An angry-looking Boakye therefore stormed the house of Dawuda, 32, and without provocation, he started to butcher him with a sharp machete on Saturday around 6:30pm.
The suspect after butchering Dawuda, reportedly, fled from the crime scene and he has since gone into hiding. The police are now searching for him to face the law.
Dawuda, who sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the unprovoked attack, is said to be responding to treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
He was initially rushed to a government hospital in his area but because his condition was fast deteriorating, he was referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
“On 21/01/23 at 1920 hours, police received call to the effect that a youngman has been brought to Nkawie/Toase Government Hospital with deep cutlass wounds on his head and right palm with blood oozing from it.
“On receipt of the information, police proceeded to the said hospital and met victim Ali Dawuda, aged 32, lying on a bed at the Emergency Unit with a plastered head and right palm responding to treatment.
“On the spot investigation revealed that today 21-01-23 at 1830 hours, one Boakye came to the victim’s house at Nkawie Panin and accused him of stealing his plantain.
“That the victim came out from his room and without any word of provocation, the suspect attacked the victim and inflicted cutlass wounds on his head and right palm and after that bolted”, part of the police report said.
The report said the police were doing everything humanly possible to smoke out the suspect from his hidden place to face the full rigorous of the law.
