In a strange incident of mob ‘injustice’, a man suspected to have stolen one piece of a second-hand car battery valued at a GHC100 has was tied to a tall erected electric pole and beaten to death, reports from Kumasi say.
The crucified suspect, believed to be about 25 years old, reportedly lost his life in that dramatic horror after was suspected to have stolen the used car battery at the Breman UGC Nankabamu area around 4AM Saturday dawn.
Unfortunately, the suspected thief, he was was caught red handed, whilst he was carrying the used battery on his head and sneaking out of the area.
Reports reaching the paper indicate that the suspect was immediately apprehended by some people in the then quiet community.
The young men that caught the suspected thief tied him with ropes to an electric pole. They then started to beat him mercilessly.
The hapless and helpless young man, according to people in the community, cried on top of his voice for help but nobody came to his rescue.
The young men continued to beat the suspected thief with all manner of objects until he finally gave up the ghost, before they left the crime scene.
“We heard a man crying for help around 4am but we were afraid to come out that ungodly hour because we feared of a possible attack.
“Around 6am, when we woke up, a dead man in his 20s was seen tied to electric pole, with blood stains in his body”, a source said.
The source, who demanded anonymity, further said theft was on the ascendancy in the area so he was not surprised the thief was lynched.
