Man Digs Up Dead Body Over Gh¢20 Debt
A MIDDLE-AGED man has done the unthinkable when he invaded the cemetery to exhume the decomposing body of a man who allegedly owed him GH¢20 before his death.
The weird behavior of Atta, aka ‘Abodam’, shocked many residents of Akim Old Tafo in the Ashanti Region, when he reportedly raided the grave of one Kwame Korankye Nkansah, whose remains were buried at the local cemetery some two weeks ago.
According to reports, Atta was in the process of taking away some valuable items that were used to bury the late Korankye Nkansah when he was caught.
Confirming the story, Madam Akua, a biological sister of the deceased, said Atta had since been arrested and handed over to the police.
She told the media that on the day of the incident, she was in the house when she heard reports that someone had invaded the local cemetery, ostensibly to exhume a dead body.
Fuming with rage, Akua said she was later told that her brother’s dead body, buried two weeks ago, was the one that the suspect had exhumed.
“I became very angry when I heard that Atta exhumed by brother’s dead body. I would have cut off his hands, had I met him here”, she threatened.
Even though the suspect reportedly told the police the motive of his action was that the deceased was indebted to him, some residents said they suspected that Atta exhumed the body for ritual or voodoo purposes.
