Man Electrocuted in Kumasi

RESIDENTS OF Asokwa in Kumasi woke up on Sunday morning to a horrific spectacle of a dead man hanging on an electricity pole.

The deceased is believed to have given up the ghost many hours earlier before his body was discovered on the pole around 5:30 am.

The incident attracted a lot of many residents of Asokwa and some nearby suburbs of Kumasi.

Some people speculated that the man was mentally retarded and suggested he must have committed suicide.

Others said he climbed the 33,000 kv pole, to pick some eggs in a bird’s nest to sell.

According to them, the eggs, which are usually bought by voodoo priests, are expensive and, could fetch him a lot of money.

Meanwhile, the body had been taken to the morgue for autopsy following a hectic operation, which lasted for about an hour.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Electricity Company of Ghana and Ghana National Fire Service combined to retrieve the body from the pole.
