The Asamankese Circuit Court in the Eastern region has jailed a 42-year-old farmer, Kwaku Akese, five (5) years for butchering his wife, Ama Nyarkoa after a misunderstanding ensued between them.
The incident occurred Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Akyem Akroso near Akyem Oda when the victim defied orders of the convict not to attend a wedding in the area.
The right hand of the victim was almost chopped off after the convict inflicted two deep cuts at the upper and lower part of the hand. She also suffered deep cutlass wound at her back, Mouth, neck and buttocks.
The convict, after committing the act, went into hiding but was later apprehended by vigilante residents.
He pleaded guilty and appealed to the court to pardon him since he was possessed but his plea was declined by the court.
The victim, 32-year-old Ama Nyarkoa has been on admission at the St. Joseph’s Hospital since the incident. She is responding to treatment having gone through multiple surgeries.
Information gathered indicates that about 12 pints of blood had already been infused into the victim to replace the loss blood.
Because she suffered deep cutlass wound on the mouth and head, she couldn’t eat hence was fed through a tube connected to her stomach.
The Couple have four (4) children.
