Man Kills, Buries Mentally Unstable Pregnant Lover & Son

A 42-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing a mentally unstable woman he impregnated along with her son at Manso Adubiaso in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.

The suspect, Kwame Tuffuor, popularly called Kwame Brodo, is said to have attempted covering up the pregnancy since he was a married man.

He, therefore, allegedly killed the 49-year-old woman known as Yaa Attah and her 5-year-old son, Kofi Kontor, and dumped their bodies in a pit.

Mr Richard Ayirebi, Assembly Member for Kwabenaso Electoral Area, who narrated the incident to Adehye FM’s Elisha Adarkwah, said the suspect started having an affair with the now-deceased woman who resided in the same neighborhood.

The suspect, according to Mr Ayirebi, took advantage of his wife’s absence, to be having sex with the mentally unstable.

He said the suspect, after learning of the pregnancy, decided to eliminate the woman to save face.

Mr Ayirebi said the suspect lured the woman and her son into the bush under the pretext of harvesting some farm produce for them.

Upon reaching the bush, the suspect allegedly butchered the two to death.

He later fled the area to Asokwai, a suburb of Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District, after he had been summoned by the local chief and interrogated about the whereabouts of the woman, who could not be seen for several days.

His flight raised suspicions within the community, culminating in a community-led search for him.

He was subsequently picked up from his hideout by youth of the area and handed over to the Manso Nkwanta Police Command where he confessed to the crime and led law officers and the local authorities to the crime scene.

The bodies were exhumed on Wednesday, 9 May. The suspect is currently in police custody.
