THE PERENNIAL water challenge, that has bedeviled the residents of Manhyia South Constituency of Kumasi, for many years is now a thing of the past.
This has become possible, following the drilling of a borehole by the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’.
The lawmaker has constructed a borehole project with amenities such as a huge polytank to store water, in order to ensure the constant supply of water to the people.
The commissioning of the borehole project was characterized by the singing of victory songs by some elated-looking residents of Manhyia Electoral Area, notably women.
Some of the residents, especially the youth, were even heard chanting Napo’s name amidst claims that he is a listening lawmaker.
In his address, Napo said he learnt about the water problem when his (Napo’s) famous ‘Meet Your Constituents’ programme hit Manhyia Electoral Area, recently.
According to him, since water is life, he decided to use his share of the MPs Common Fund to construct the borehole project to help solve the perennial problem of the people.
Napo, who seemed very happy, said serving his constituents is his major preoccupation as MP, adding that he would continue to faithfully serve his people to live better.
He stated that the borehole is meant to supply water for free for the people, adding that he (Napo) would bear the cost for the maintenance of the facility if the need arises.
Napo therefore entreated the people of Manhyia Electoral Area to take proper care of the borehole project so that it would last for many years for future generations to also benefit.
