THE MANHYIA Government Hospital in Kumasi has received a significant support to help take proper care of patients that visit the facility on daily basis.
Mission 195, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), based in Virginia in the United States of America (USA), has donated an assortment of medical consumables to the hospital.
The President of the Council of Zongo Chiefs in the Ashanti Region, Naba Musah Akambonga, facilitated for the medical items to be donated by the NGO to the hospital.
Speaking at the donation ceremony, Naba Akambonga, who is also the Frafra Chief of Kumasi, said the donation was his own way of giving back to his community.
He said his son, Kamel and his friend, Osman, are in charge of the Mission 195 in Virginia and their NGO periodically make donations to health institutions.
“I was born and bred at New Zongo near Manhyia Government Hospital, so I appealed to the NGO to also help the Manhyia Government Hospital and they obliged.
“The NGO therefore donated quantities of medical consumables to the Manhyia Government Hospital and some other hospitals in Accra to boost healthcare delivery”.
Naba Akambonga lauded Mission 195 in Virginia, USA, for their many years of providing support to hospitals in Ghana and beyond, and urged to sustain their positive works.
According to him, the government could not single handedly provide the needed equipments to hospitals in the country so the well-to-do in society should also help.
Dr. Gladys Aban, the Nurse Manager of Manhyia Government Hospital, who received the items, commended the donors for a good show of love and care.
