Many Christian Pastors are Gays -Lawyer Ampaw
Private Legal Practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, claims several men of God in Ghana are secretly involved in the practice of homosexuality.
The Lawyer who was speaking on Neat FM’s “Entertainment Ghana”, said whiles most Christians tend to be hypocritical when it comes to homosexual issues, some pastors fully indulge in the act.
“Most Christians are hypocrites… a lot of pastors are homosexuals here in Ghana,” he stated.
He, however, praised the Muslim community and Muslim leadership in Ghana for openly speaking against homosexuality, adding that if he has Muslims behind him, then his fight against legalization of same-sex marriage in Ghana will definitely succeed.
“I am so happy that the Islamic community led by the Chief Imam have come out strongly against homosexuality,” he added.
The outspoken lawyer as commenting on President Akufo-Addo’s recent interview with Qatar-based TV, Aljazeera.
President Akufo-Addo, who spoke to Aljazeera’s Jane Dutton said, the country’s culture and tradition for now will not permit the legal support of homosexuality, but was quick to add that if public opinion changes, the law may just be amended.
“This is a social, cultural issue, I don’t believe that in Ghana so far, a sufficiently strong coalition has emerged which is having that impact on public opinion that will say ‘change it, let’s now have a new paradigm in Ghana.’
“At the moment, I don’t feel, I don’t see that in Ghana there is that strong current of opinion that is saying this is something we need to deal with. It is not so far a matter that is on the agenda,” he added.
His remarks have stoked a huge debate in the country.
The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) is even demanding that government states in clear terms the country’s stance on homosexuality since the practice is anathema to the country’s religious and social cultural beliefs.
An enraged Maurice Ampaw, commenting on the issue, dared President Akufo-Addo and his government to make homosexuality part of his campaign message in the next general elections, if he is that bold.
“If the president thinks he is brave enough and support homosexuality, he should go ahead and use it as his political campaign message come 2020 general elections. He should promise he is going to make it legal and see”, he charged.
He vowed to turn himself into a gay practitioner should the President get 10% of the total votes cast in Election 2020. Source: Eugene Osafo-Nkansah.
