The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has banned Nsoatreman FC from using Nana Kronamansah Park as their home venue following the violence that lead to the death of a fan of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Pooley.
“The Executive Committee of the GFA has, with immediate effect, invoked Article 14(2) of the Premier League Regulations, by banning the use of the Nsoatreman FC home venue until further notice. This action ensures the safety of all stakeholders while investigations proceed.”, the GFA took to their official website on February 2, 2025.
This action comes after violent incidents broke out during their Ghana Premier League Matchday 19 game against Asante Kotoko. Although Nsoatreman won 1-0, the match was marred by chaos, injuries, and a tragic loss of life.
To protect all stakeholders, the GFA enforced Article 14(2) of the Premier League Regulations, placing an indefinite ban on the venue while investigations continue. The association has also directed its Security Committee, led by DCOP Lydia Donkor, and FA Prosecutors to collect all necessary evidence, including match reports and other documents, for submission to the Disciplinary Committee.
Additionally, the Ghana Police Service has launched a full investigation to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for the violence. The GFA has reaffirmed its strict stance against violence, intimidation, and hooliganism in football. It warned that any club, official, or supporter found guilty of such actions will face severe penalties.
The GFA has promised to provide further updates on the investigation and any disciplinary actions taken.
