Mayor Takes K’si to Cancer Summit

FOR THE second time, the city of Kumasi is being represented at the World Leaders’ Cancer Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The delegation from Kumasi is being led by the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi. It is reported that some staffers from the Kumasi Metro Directorate of Health were also part of the Mayor’s delegation.

In 2017, Kumasi, again led by Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi, stole the show during the World Leaders’ Cancer Summit, which was hosted by Mexico.

The Ashanti regional capital immediately benefited from that event as it was selected to be part of the ‘City Cancer Challenge’ programme. By that status alone, a cancer research office would soon be constructed in Kumasi.

Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, who is passionate about issues of cancer, is among the few personalities that would address this year’s summit.

The Mayor would also be part of a panel of experts, who would brainstorm to find practicable solutions to the deadly cancer menace.
