Mbroh Made Deputy MD For Ghana Water
A university lecturer, John Kwaning Mbroh, has been officially appointed as Deputy Managing Director in charge of Finance and Administration at the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).
The appointment was contained in a letter signed on December 14, 2017 by Nana Asante Bediatuo, Secretary to the President, on behalf of the President and said the appointment takes immediate effect.
Mbroh’s new office would see to the General Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Commercial and Business Development functions of GWCL.
The appointment letter, copied to the Vice President, the Chief of Staff and the Managing Director of GWCL directed that the Board of Directors of GWCL should take steps to regularize the appointment.
As directed, the GWCL Board has officially regularized Mr. John Mbroh’s appointment and given him a confirmation letter to that effect.
The Board Chair, Alex Afenyo-Markin, on behalf of the Board has officially written to Mr. Mbroh to confirm the appointment by the Office of the President.
This is expected to put to rest speculations in media circles that some persons within government were scheming to revoke the appointment of John Mbroh although there is an official letter from the Office of the President confirming the appointment.
Recently, a similar appointment of Ing. Peter Deever as a Deputy Managing Director (in charge of Special Projects), sparked a similar attempt where there was a remote-controlled trial-by-media agenda to tarnish the repute of the appointing authority and the leadership of GWCL.
Though not accepted officially, there is a subtle power struggle at the apex echelon of GWCL over grumblings that the top hierarchy had appointees from only one region.
The GWCL falls under the Ministry of, Water Resources & Sanitation headed by Mr. Kofi Adda, a strong pillar from the North.
The company has Ing. Dr. Clifford A. Braimah, another strong pillar from the North as the Managing Director and has Ing. Jacob Z. Yendor Deputy Managing Director (Operations) another strong pillar from the North.
The Board Chair, Alex Afenyo-Markin is Member of Parliament for Effutu in the Central Region, the newly appointed Mbroh is also from the Central Region and the Deputy MD (Special Projects) is from Western Region.
This new balance in the regional crushes all arguments that a particular region has been favored in appointments at GWCL it is expected to enhance cohesion and internal harmony for a smooth execution of the Company’s mandate.
Meanwhile, the GWCL has always had external suppliers scheming to have their favorites in positions of influence.
THE PUBLISHER is studying a report on how GWCL losses millions of dollars very often because its water project site at Weija always gets damaged or stolen pipes anytime the installed CCTV goes off under mysterious circumstances.
The paper would also be narrowing in on the interesting activities of INTERMERC (GH) LTD, one of the companies that does supply works for GWCL.
MORE SOON.
