Independent Non-Governmental Organization based in Accra, Media Foundation for West Africa has held its second graduation ceremony at the Kofi Annan I.C.T center for excellence.
The MFWA gave certificates to 13 journalists from Liberia, Ghana, and Sierra Leone after completing the second edition of it’s NGIJ 2022. The first edition of the fellowship was rolled out in October 2021 with 10 fellows who were all in Ghana.
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the program, Prof. Audrey Gadzekpo applauded the organization for taking up the responsibility of training the young ones and equipping them with skills to practice quality journalism in the society.
Addressing the fellows, the Press attaché of the US Embassy, Kevin Brosnahan congratulated the certified fellows to ensure they use their tools, knowledge, and skills into good use for the benefit of their society and countries respectively.
He again urged them to build up a pool of NGIJ to contribute fairly to the improvement of lives and promote good governance through journalism excellence.
Thirteen (13) fellows graduated during the 5 months of program training and were honored. They include, Edmund Boateng who won the best right to information (RTI), Victor Jones won best story writer, Thelma Dede won best fact – Checker, and Philip Teye Agbove who also was the most promising young investigative journalist.
