Millions of Fake Dollars & Gold Seized In Accra …Alhaji On The Run

The National Security is on  a manhunt for four key suspects, including a ringleader identified only as Alhaji, after uncovering a major counterfeit cash operation at Sapeiman in the outskirts of the Greater Accra Region.

A National Security source said the operation was triggered by a tip-off.

The outfit followed the lead and  raided the venue, an  innocent looking warehouse at Sapeiman.

Upon inspection, the security officials found several millions  of fake United  States Dollars with several more crisp wads of Ghana Cedi notes packed  and locked inside wooden boxes. The boxes had been   further concealed in cement blocks and charcoal.

The operation also led to the seizure of suspected gold bars, fake uniforms and boots of the Ghana Army.

The development has raised national  security concerns.

Authorities are now working to verify whether the seized gold bars are genuine or counterfeit.

Investigators believe the suspects used sophisticated smuggling techniques to transport the illicit materials.

Security forces have successfully secured ten of the twelve 20-foot shipping containers linked to the operation.

However, two remain missing, sparking an urgent search to recover them. Officials suspect the missing containers could contain more counterfeit currency or other illegal goods.

The discovery of fake military uniforms and boots has heightened concerns about possible impersonation schemes.

Security analysts warned that such items could be used in criminal activities, potentially threatening national stability.

Authorities are calling on citizens to report any suspicious activities that could aid the ongoing investigation.

National Security, as at press time, had not issued an official statement on the operation but it is believed to have happened over the weekend.
