Minister Arrests Noisy Pastor
THE ASHANTI Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, allegedly disrupted a watch night service organized by the House of Bethel Ministries at Anwomaso near Kumasi in the early hours of Saturday.
Members of the church were reportedly making deafening noise that virtually kept the entire neighbourhood awake, the paper gathered.
Eye witnesses said the minister, who also resided in the area, politely reminded the congregants that they were breaching the law on excessive noise making in a residential area, but the advice was ignored by the church members.
Hon. Osei Mensah reportedly left the church premises, ostensibly to avoid any chaotic scene as some of the congregants got infuriated by his word of caution.
The Minister, however, returned a few minutes later with a group of policemen, who arrested the pastor and seized the church’s musical equipment.
Later in an interview on Hello FM, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah confirmed that he stormed the church over noise making.Even though he did not give details of what transpired at the church premises, he was quick to warn churches in the region to respect the law on noise making.
Checks by the paper indicated that the pastor, name withheld, was eventually granted bail after the police had taken his statement on Saturday morning.
