Minister Blasts Mahama Over ‘Foul’ Tongue
THE ASHANTI Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, has chastised former President John Dramani Mahama, for verbally attacking President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo without provocation.
He recounted that Mr. Mahama, infamously, took President Akufo-Addo to the cleaners whilst addressing some National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in Kumasi last Saturday.
The Minister fumed that Mahama openly said Akufo-Addo’s government was not applying “sense” to the galamsey fight, and expressed worry that a Statesman of his caliber could stoop low and spew insults in public.
According to him, insulting people, especially his political opponents without provocation, was gradually becoming the trademark of Mr. Mahama.
“The former president has the penchant for insulting. This is not the first time that he has used such words”, Hon. Osei Mensah, said during a mammoth press conference in Kumasi Wednesday.
“When he was a parliamentarian, he insulted Hon. Osei Kwame Prempeh and Ashantis in relation to the use of the queen’s language.
“Others include the use of baloney on NPP parliamentarians, and his claim that Ashantis are ungrateful and that if you even pave their roads with gold, they still won’t appreciate”, he added.
The minister urged Mr. Mahama to refrain from insulting innocent people and rather invest his energy in apologizing to the NDC for leading the party to an embarrassing political defeat in 2016.
Concluding, Mr. Osei Mensah said contrary to Mahama’s claims, the people of Ashanti region are happy and comfortable with the way the Akufo-Addo government is rapidly transforming the country.
