THE ASHANTI Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, has expressed satisfaction about the quality and progress of work executed at the Kumasi International Airport project, so far.
According to him, he accompanied President Akufo-Addo to tour the construction site about four months ago and he is now thrilled about how fast the contractors have managed to execute the project.
“I am highly impressed about the quality and level of works done at the Kumasi International Airport project by the contractors”, Osei Mensah stated to journalists in Kumasi on Tuesday morning.
This was when he led a delegation of Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to inspect the progress of work on the important project, which is due to start operations in August.
According to the Regional Minister, the last time he visited the construction site with the president, they were informed that the airport project would resume full operations latest by October 2022.
“Today, the contractors have announced that the date for the airport to start operations has been pushed forward to August 2022, which means they have been able to work faster”, he minister said.
Sounding very happy, the minister noted that “this latest date means that there has been time saving of about one month, which is excellent. I like the way they are implementing the project”.
Osei Mensah said the arrival and departure halls of the airport have been completed and they are being put to test now, adding that other facilities like fire service and tower would be completed soon.
The Ashanti REGSEC has a policy of inspecting ongoing government projects in the region to see how they were progressing. They also visited some ongoing road projects in the Greater Kumasi area.
