Minister Resigns Over Agyarko Sack

Information circulating on social media indicate that the Eastern Regional Deputy Minister, Hon. Joseph Tetteh, has resigned.

In a letter cited by THE PUBLISHER, the Minister, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Upper Manya Krobo Constituency, said his resignation was as a result of the dismissal of former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko, by the President.

The letter, dated August 6th, on the letter head of the Deputy Minister, and addressed to the presidency, read:
“I wish to tender my resignation from the position of Deputy Eastern Regional Minister. This is due to the current happenings in your Government especially the dismissal of my senior brother and colleague, Honorable Boakye Agyarko, who has been a strong pillar in the Krobo bloc and whose support led to the annexing of the seat from the NDC in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency”.

Municipal Chief Executive for Manya Krobo, Simon Kwaku Tetteh, is one of the first high profile appointees of the President to circulate the letter on the Lower Manya Krobo NPP WhatsApp platform, and was cited by the paper.

Mr. Agyarko, it would be recalled, was dismissed by the President following some ‘loopholes’ in the controversial AMERI deal.

However, the displeased Deputy Minister, popularly known as ‘Joe Tee’, who opted to part ways with the President, explained that the former Energy Minister had played a pivotal role during the 2016 election, which led to the party securing the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency seat, and therefore did not deserve to have been sacked.

He, in conclusion, thanked President Akufo-Addo for the opportunity offered him to serve under his government.
As at the time of going to bed, the paper had received unconfirmed reports that, an aide to the Deputy Minister, one Charles Katey Adabah, had denied that his boss had resigned.
