Minister Settles Dispute in Ashanti NPP
THE looming tension in the Ashanti regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been peacefully resolved, following the intervention of the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Elizabeth Agyeman.
Until the Minister’s intervention, Kwabena Nsenkyire, the NPP first deputy regional chairman and Abraham Boadi, KMA Presiding Member, were virtually at each other’s throat; washing the party’s dirty linen in public by engaging in a verbal war on radio stations in Kumasi.
The action of the two almost dented the image of the regional Minister and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) boss, but for the timely intervention of Ms Agyeman, who is widely considered as the mother of the NPP in the region.
“Nsenkyire and Opooman are two leading figures in our party in this region so I was hurt by their action. The regional Minister, my boss, is currently in Tamale so I decided to act quickly and stop the brouhaha.
“The two of them were in a heated debate on Hello FM on Thursday and so I called the host of the show. He also informed Opooman and Nsenkyire that I wanted to settle the case peacefully and they willingly accepted”.
She said she had since called both Opooman and Nsenkyire to let sleeping dogs lie for peace to reign, and hinted that she would continue to engage the two in talks so that peace would return to the party.
