THE PERSONAL police bodyguard of Minister of Railways, Joe Gartey, is currently in deep waters. This follows reports that a pistol, in the bodyguard’s possession, had gotten missing, mysteriously.
There have been conflicting reports since the 10 rounds pistol, got missing in Kumasi on Thursday evening. Section of reports indicated that some hoodlums strategically ambushed the policeman and seized his gun.
Other reports also said the gun was stolen from a room in a hotel, where the bodyguard was lodging with his boss.
Also, some grapevine information suggested that the gun fell from a torn waist bag of the bodyguard and got lost.
The incident is being investigated by the police in Kumasi, who have questioned the beleaguered police bodyguard.
However, the paper’s checks said the bodyguard and his boss, Joe Gartey, lodged at Georgia Hotel in Kumasi on Thursday.
After spending some few minutes at the hotel, the bodyguard and the minister left to make some round in the city.
It was when they had returned the to the hotel on Thursday evening, when the bodyguard realized the gun was missing.
Alarm was eventually raised and the entire hotel premises were searched but the missing gun could still not be found.
The case was then reported to the police in Kumasi, who have commenced investigations into the matter.
