MMDCEs Disappointed in Akufo-Addo – Minority
Almost all the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) are disappointed at the way the current government is managing the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), Ahmed Ibrahim, Member of Parliament for Banda, has said.
According to him, the government has diverted monies meant for the assemblies, into other ventures, thereby starving the various assemblies of funds.
Mr Ibrahim told Chief Jerry Forson on Accra100.5FM’s Ghana Yensom that government has written to the MMDAs to allocate 80 per cent of the DACF for its priority projects.
He explained that by this directive, every assembly will be left with only GHS713,385.81 on the average for discretionary spending.
“Most of the DCEs cannot talk because they fear to lose their jobs. They are crying within themselves”, he said.
He added: “Other staff of the various assemblies have regretted that they voted for the NPP to come into office.”
The Minority in Parliament on Tuesday noted that the government is desperate to fulfil the many promises it made to Ghanaians, and, so has resorted to spending a huge chunk of the DACF for its flagship projects.
