MoE/GES prepare for 2018 Free SHS
The Ministry of Education (MoE) and Ghana Education Service (GES) are working hard to ensure that this year’s admissions of children into the government’s Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme in September are effective, efficient and free from mishaps.
At a meeting in Accra recently, Mrs. Catherine Appiah Pinkrah, who was the chairperson, said there was the need for directors, officers and heads of schools to work effectively with stakeholders to ensure that issues of school selection and placement, and management of the schools are handled well to promote quality teaching and learning in the schools.
Mr. William Darkwah, who is the National Coordinator at the Free SHS Secretariat of MoE, gave the assurance that stringent measures are being put in place to ensure that all qualified children are admitted to schools and are supported well, under the Free SHS programme, in accessing good quality senior high, technical and vocational education in the country.
Present at the meeting were some directors and officers of MoE, GES and Free SHS Secretariat, including GES Director for Secondary Education Dr. (Mrs.) Angela Tena Mensah and Deputy Free SHS Coordinator Naana Tima Boakye.
