Mohammed Salisu and Monaco eliminated from UEFA League

Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu and the Association Sportive de Monaco Football Club, also called AS Monaco, have been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League after losing to Benfica in the playoffs.

Salisu, who played in the first leg when Monaco suffered a 1-0 home defeat, was benched for the return fixture in Portugal. Despite a thrilling 3-3 draw at Estadio do Dragão on Tuesday night, Monaco lost 4-3 on aggregate, confirming their exit from the competition.

With their Champions League hopes dashed, Monaco will now shift focus to their French Ligue 1 campaign. The former Southampton defender made six appearances in the tournament, scoring one goal.

In all competitions this season, Salisu has featured in 22 matches and found the net three times.
