Money doubling fraud in church …Evangelist Agradaa grabbed

A Notorious fetish priestess of dubious validity who transformed overnight into  the founder and leader of a Christian church has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service over accusations from several persons including some of her church members that she had defrauded and scammed them under the pretext of doubling various amounts of money for them during a recent church service she presided over.

The Ghana Police Service announced on Sunday that it had arrested Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, alias Nana Agrada the leader of Heaven Way International Church, and that she was being kept at the Greater Accra Regional Police Command to help in investigations into complaints from several supposed victims that she was using her church and television station for a money-doubling scam.

The Christian Evangelist, when she was a Fetish Priestess, faced similar accusations of money-doubling scam. She had a spiritual service known as ‘Sika Gari’ which she claimed could double whatever amount of money was brought to her.

After her so-called conversion to Christianity, Nana Agradaaa went public with an apology to seek forgiveness from all persons she had defrauded through her “Sika Gari’ scam and went ahead to publicly burn her deities and carved idols.

However, whatever wealth she gained from the self confessed-fraud was never returned to her victims and the law enforcement authorities left her unpunished to enjoy her criminally gotten wealth and go ahead with her church business.

She was flourishing in her new found business until fresh allegations from her Christian congregation over the weekend that they had also become victims of same money-doubling scam, but this time, in the Christian church.

“The Police have commenced investigation into alleged money doubling scam allegedly perpetrated against some members of the Heaven Way Church in Weija, Accra, by the founder of the church Patricia Asiedua.

“The investigation was initiated following reports that have come to the attention of the Police on the matter.  We would like to urge anyone with information that can assist the investigation to report to the Accra Regional Police Command at Accra Central close to the COCOBOD building. While investigation continues, we urge everyone, especially those who might have been affected to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands”, the Police statement said.

Shata Wale Kakai

Some of the complainants cum victims of the alleged money doubling scam say during the church service, Nana Agradaaa played and danced to Shatta Wales ‘Kakai’ song after scamming them.

One of the female victims captured in a video that has gone viral said she travelled to the church all the way from the Northern Region to seek blessings from Nana Agradaaa and enjoy her money-doubling miracle

The victim narrated that she watched Nana Agradaa on television giving assurances that whatever amount of money was brought to her church would be doubled for the giver.

The victim said based on that assurance she travelled to Accra to attend the church service but got scammed by Evangelist Agradaa.

“I came all the way from North because I wanted financial breakthrough.  I saw her advert on television and decided to come. Now I don’t have any money on me therefore I have to walk back home.

“My brother here [pointing to another victim, male] also came from Cote D’Ivoire and has also lost his money,” she said.

She added “she was playing and singing Shata Wale’s song ‘I de come like Kakai’ to us.”

Nana Agradaa was said to have advertized her money-doubling miracle service on television and the advert  went across the country and beyond  therefore  on Saturday, 8 October 2022, there was a heavy attendance  to her church.

The victims narrated that after they had given her their monies, she could not double hem until the service ended. She then allegedly shut the church doors and left the premises.

The angry and betrayed congregants were seen in viral videos lamenting at her church premises and demanding for the arrest of Nana Agradaa.

Some of them who were spotted in the viral videos said that they had given huge sums to ‘Nana Agradaa’, ranging from GHC1,000 to GHC20,000.

GREED BLAMED

Meanwhile, security and foreign policy analyst, Adib Saani has blamed the development on greed and penchant for ‘overnight riches’ on the part of her victims.

Adib Saani spoke to Joy News:

“In fact, I don’t blame ‘Agradaa’. I don’t blame her much. Because she is only an opportunist who is exploiting loopholes in our norms, values and in our criminal justice system. I blame us also because people’s penchant for overnight riches, greed [and] gullible state of mind is what is accounting for this”, he said.

Adib continued: “What has the Police done about her in the past? And I dare anyone to go to the Sowutuom Police station and ask for Agradaa’s files, and you’ll be amazed by the number of complaints that have been leveled against her at the Police station. Almost like a weekly ritual. But what has been done about it?”, he added.
