Ghanaian musician Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jr., known in showbiz as Akwaboah Jr., has identified broken homes as a major cause that pushes girls into sleeping with men for money.
The songwriter and music producer holds the view that broken homes leave people in poverty, adding that disadvantaged young girls from such homes easily resort to offering sex for money for their upkeep.
He told Prince Benjamin on Class 91.3FM’s Class Drive: “That’s what is happening. You see mum and dad issues and you can’t talk about it but then you are worried, and somehow its affecting you too… Ladies sleep with people for money because of broken homes”.
Akwaboah Jr. said he wants to be a strong advocate and talk about such issues in his songs to draw attention to the problem.
He pointed out that ladies involved in such practices often suffer from the guilt, knowing that what they are doing is wrong “but then they have to do it to survive”.
“Some ladies date big guys because they feel like they can take care of them and besides she wants to go to school” but there is no money and the parents are separated and not taking care of her.
The musician is using his latest song “Hye Me Bo” to bring to the fore, the effects of broken homes on children.
