Mother’s Day Marked in Kumasi with Cocoa Drink
THIS YEAR’S Mother’s Day celebration has been observed at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and the Manhyia Government Hospital.
The Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) Limited organized a pre-Mother’s Day ceremony at the two medical institutions in Kumasi on Friday.
Dubbed ‘Health Benefits of Cocoa Consumption for Mother and Child’, the ceremony saw pregnant mothers being served with cocoa drinks for free.
The programme was part of efforts of CPC to help highlight the health benefits of drinking cocoa drinks, especially by pregnant mothers.
The pregnant mothers were seen in long queues at the two hospitals on Friday morning as they were served with delicious cocoa drinks by officials of CPC.
Nana Agyenim Boateng, Managing Director of CPC, said cocoa drinks have immense health benefits for pregnant mothers and their unborn babies.
He said cocoa has anti-oxidants to help human body fight radical scavengers that attack the human body so it is beneficial to pregnant mothers and their children.
Nana Agyenim Boateng, who is also the Amoamanhene, said cocoa consumption is very low in the country and his outfit wants to change that sad development.
According to him, the free cocoa drinks for pregnant mothers are among the company’s new policies to make cocoa consumption popular among Ghanaians.
Nana Agyenim Boateng said the free cocoa drinks for pregnant mothers programme by CPC would be replicated during every Mother’s Day celebration.
