Motivation! We once ministered to empty chairs – Bethel Revival Choir
Contemporary gospel music group, Bethel Revival Choir, has become the toast of many music lovers with their scintillating ewe medleys.
The group has captured the attention of the country due to their ability to ‘modernize’ old traditional ewe songs coupled with their amazing vocal delivery.
They have managed to bag three nominations for the 2019 3Music Awards and two nominations at the 2019 Ghana Music Awards.
In an interview with Franky 5 on ‘This Is Gospel’ on Hitz FM, a member of the Choir, Adelaide, revealed that before their rise to fame, there were times they held events but no one showed up.
“We’ve been doing this worship thing for nine years now. The truth is that there are months we go on stage and there is nobody in the room…after all the publicity,” she said.
The group member added that they resolved to persist despite the low turnout at most of their events in the past.
“We tell ourselves that we will worship to ourselves. We will minister to ourselves first before everybody else. And the consistency with which we did it, even though people didn’t come last month it didn’t stop us from going the next month,” Adelaide disclosed.
Bethel Revival Choir began ministration in the early 1990s and are members of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC).
The group was unearthed at the Trinity Parish branch of the GEC, located at Kotobabi-Down, Accra.
Bethel Revival Choir gained greater recognition after the release of their second album titled ‘Akpe’ in 2018.
‘Agbadza Gospel Medley’ and ‘Vovome’ which features Joe Mettle are two popular songs from the latest album consisting of 15 live recording.
They will battle with other nominees for the ‘Group of the Year’, ‘Gospel Act of the Year’, and ‘Gospel Song of the Year’ honours at this year’s 3Music Awards.
Later on, in May, the group will have a chance at clinching the ‘Gospel Song of the Year’ award with ‘Agbadza’ and the ‘Group of the Year’ award at the VGMAs.
