Mourinho promises to bring passion to Spurs
New Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has promised to bring “passion” and “happiness” to the club.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Mourinho days ago signed a contract until the end of the 2022-23 season following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino.
Speaking in an interview with Spurs TV after his appointment, Mourinho said: “I couldn’t be happier and look forward to the challenge, What can I promise? Passion, real passion. Passion for my job, but also a passion for my club, that’s the way I have been all my career and I want to try, obviously, everything to bring happiness to everyone who loves the club.”
“Even as an opponent, there was always huge respect between me and the club. I met you in cup finals, in semi-finals, in big matches and to keep that respect was probably in the back of my mind that one day I could be one of you.” added Mourinho.
He takes over a Spurs side that are without a win in their past five games and have slipped to 14th in the Premier League, 20 points behind leaders Liverpool after just 12 matches.
